The GM LS family of engines relies on a press fit of the crankshaft pulley as its only means of preventing rotation. While this may be sufficient for a stone stock grocery getter, any competition / performance build should deem locking the crank pulley a necessity. High RPMs, factory or custom belt driven superchargers, aftermarket dry sump systems, etc., all require a more positive locking of the pulley to the crank snout.
Massive has produced the finest available solution to this issue, the LS-X-ACT pinning kit. This bolt on fixture allows you to accurately, safely drill a path to insert a steel dowel pin between the pulley and the crank. This will prevent any opportunity for pulley orbit.
Our tool is precision machined from billet aluminum and fitted with an exclusive carbide drill guide bushing to properly locate the drill path into your crank. There's really not many second chances if this turns out wrong - the competitions tools are merely aluminum blocks that could easily allow a drill to walk and damage your expensive crankshaft. We've also anodized our tool in our signature purple limited color for good looks, corrosion resistance and easy identification.
We include the necessary bolt to hold the tool while in use, companion washers, FIVE dowel pins and a high quality 1/4" drill bit.
Install Tool:
Designed specifically for the GM LS series of engines. This tool allows for simple, safe installation of the press fit crank pulley. Simply thread the stud into the threaded bore of the crank, start pulley onto snout and apply included assembly lubricant to threads of tool. Slide on both washers and finger tighten provided nut. Begin snugging down tool with ratchet. Once pulley bottoms out, install is complete.
Install Tool:

Included is a full 1/4” thick x 2” custom turned driving plate to resist the deformation found in lesser tools. Tools are designed to be used for a lifetime and are finished in a zinc and yellow dichromate plating to resist corrosion.
Crank Bolt: Perfect for getting proper thread engagement on those DAMAGED crank snout threads!!! Did you (or someone else?) use a stock or other bolt to attempt to draw down the press fit crank pulley? Those who have tried this soon realize the first several threads will be pulled out of the crank... often rendering the crank useless. Massive has released this new XL-LS Extended length bolt that travels further into the threaded crank snout to engage more thread, giving your damaged crankshaft new life. The OEM bolt only engages the last 22mm of thread. Our new XL-LS bolt offers 32mm of engagement, a 50% increase. So even if the first few mm of your crank threads are damaged, merely clean out any material, and you will obtain proper or even increased thread bond
Our bolt is a full 10mm longer than the OE or ARP bolt.
Because who couldn't use an extra 10mm?
Truly superior strength is needed on this most critical of load bearing fasteners. The crankshaft sees immense kinetic energy! Both twisting and lateral loads are exerted on this one area, and to an even greater degree on belt driven supercharged cars.
OEM fasteners are one-time-use - they stretch and must be replaced, so upgrading with the Massive Speed Precision unit is a "no-brainer". Grade 12.9 197,000 PSI tensile strength 12 point flanged bolt finished in black oxide places superior clamp only load to balancer through the use of a separate washer plate (a full 1/4" thick!) versus the 1 piece stocker.
Fully reusable. Will not fit LS7. Crank bolt should never be used to install balancer, use of proper tool is necessary.
